Riva
Italian Riviera dining above Rose Bay Marina
Riva sits a storey above the boats at Rose Bay Marina, with the harbour running the full width of the room. The fit-out borrows from the Ligurian coast rather than reproducing it: vintage detailing, rattan, linen and the kind of light that only comes off water.
The kitchen is built around pasta made in-house, whole fish and seasonal vegetables, served to share. The wine list moves between Italian regions and Australian growers, and the bar leans on aperitivi, vermouth and coastal citrus.
It is a long-lunch room first — lunch runs Wednesday to Sunday, from midday midweek and 11.30 at weekends — and a dinner room that keeps its ease after dark. Sunset over the bay is the reason to book the early sitting.
