Daniel Drakopoulos is managing director of SRG Hospitality, the family-owned Sydney group his parents, Bill and Kathleen, started with Aqua at Milsons Point in 2000. He runs the group with his brother Perry; the two became co-managing directors in 2025, when Bill stepped back from day-to-day operations to a mentoring and advisory role.
He came up through the business rather than around it, and his part of the story has been its reach beyond the water: the group's first Sydney CBD café in 2015, and in 2025 its first hotel, when SRG became the exclusive food and beverage partner of The Langham, Sydney, taking on the hotel's restaurant, bar and event spaces.
In April 2026 he announced the group's expanded partnership with the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour, where SRG now runs HarbourWatch and manages the precinct's ten event spaces. The aim, as he has put it, is venues that last and change with the city rather than concepts that come and go with a trend.
SRG marked twenty-five years in January 2026 with seventeen venues and seven openings planned before the end of the year. Daniel speaks on the group's approach at industry events, including Food & Hospitality Week 2026.

SRG Hospitality
In his words
Entering the hotel space is a natural extension of our restaurant roots. This opportunity to reimagine the restaurant, bar and event spaces allows us to bring our dining DNA into a world-class hotel setting.

Our goal is to build venues that endure and evolve with Sydney, not concepts that disappear with trends.

Our partnership with the Australian National Maritime Museum has been incredibly rewarding, and this next chapter marks a significant step forward for both organisations.
