Events

Rooms and whole venues to take over

Almost every SRG room sits on water — a wharf, a marina, a beach, a bay or a lake. That is the practical fact behind every event held in one of them: where the room is decides a great deal about how the night goes.

Riva

Seventeen spaces across the group take anything from a table of twelve to a whole precinct of 2,500. Some are entire restaurants closed for the evening, some are private rooms working inside a busy dining room, and one of them is an ex-Navy destroyer. The events team works through menus, timings and suppliers with you.

01

Milestones

Birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, and the dinners that mark something without needing a theme. Most of these fit inside a private dining room: Riva's seats 40, Ripples Rose Bay's seats 20 with its own balcony over the marina, Sails' seats 20, and the White Room at Chowder Bay seats 12.

For larger numbers, whole venues can be taken exclusively — Noi for 40, The Fenwick's Gallery for 50, Ripples Little Manly for 60 on the sand. Menus are usually banquet-style, which keeps everyone eating together.

02

Corporate

Conferences, client dinners, workshops and end-of-year nights. The Ballroom at The Langham seats 150 or holds 200 standing and divides in two; the Drawing Room takes 100 seated with an original fireplace still in it. The James splits into semi-private north and south sections, seating 54 and 40, without leaving the dining room.

At the Maritime Museum the scale changes again. The Theatre seats 210 with full AV and tiered seating, the Terrace Room seats 130 behind floor-to-ceiling glass, and the Lighthouse Gallery takes 250 at banquet or 350 theatre-style, with a loading dock wide enough to bring in a car or a boat.

03

Brand and launch

Product launches, media nights, and anything that needs a backdrop worth photographing. The Ben Lexcen Terrace sits above the boardwalk at Darling Harbour and holds 400 for cocktails. HMAS Vampire, the ex-Navy destroyer moored beside it, takes 120 across its upper decks and helipad.

Closer in, the wharf at Akti holds 300, the bar at Summer Salt holds 60 above Elouera Beach, and The Nielsen's Beach Club has its own bar and deck on the sand at Shark Beach. Each one gives a launch a location rather than just a room.

Sails

Sails | Lavender Bay

Seated 92 · Cocktail 120

Sails can be taken whole — 92 seated, 120 for a cocktail party — on the Lavender Bay foreshore, with the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge across the water. Seasonal Australian menus, and a considered wine list.

One side of the restaurant can be reserved on its own for 35, which keeps the main room's buzz next door. The private dining room is smaller again: 20 seated, 30 standing, with the water still in view.

Akti

Akti | Woolloomooloo

Seated 220 · Cocktail 300

The whole of Akti holds 220 seated or 300 standing, which makes it one of the largest rooms in the group and the natural choice for a party that needs room.

Half the venue can be taken instead, for 100 seated or 120 standing. The private dining room seats 28 under high ceilings, with ceramic work across the walls.

Ripples Chowder Bay

Ripples Chowder Bay

Seated 100 · Cocktail 200

Exclusive hire at Chowder Bay takes 100 seated or 200 standing, in the old marine depot at Clifton Gardens with the harbour a few metres off the deck.

The AquaMine Room seats 50 or holds 100 and keeps its heritage bones on show. The White Room seats 12 — small, private, and full of the building's character.

The Fenwick

The Fenwick | Balmain East

Seated 50 · Cocktail 60

The Gallery sits on the first floor of the 1880s boat store, seating 50 or holding 60 standing, with the current exhibition on the sandstone walls and a view that runs from Barangaroo across to the Harbour Bridge.

The light moves across the stone through the afternoon, a good reason to start early.

Ripples Watsons Bay

Ripples Watsons Bay | Watsons Bay

Seated 110 · Cocktail 150

Ripples Watsons Bay opens in early 2027 inside the heritage-listed Dunbar House, and is taking event enquiries ahead of that. The whole top floor can be hired exclusively, with a balcony running along the harbour side.

Capacities are 110 seated, 150 for a cocktail party, 80 theatre-style or 40 in a U-shape.

Ripples Little Manly

Ripples Little Manly

Seated 60 · Cocktail 70

Exclusive hire at Little Manly takes 60 seated or 70 standing, on the sand with the harbour in front of you. It is about as close to barefoot as an event gets in Sydney.

A section can be reserved on its own for 20, which suits a smaller group that still wants the beach.

Summer Salt

Summer Salt | Cronulla

Seated 190 · Cocktail 220

Summer Salt takes 190 seated or 220 standing above Elouera Beach, with the ocean filling the windows and a seafood-led menu underneath it.

It also divides: the north half of the dining room seats 48, the south half 76, the bar holds 60 for a cocktail party, and the private dining room seats 14.
